Datron Neo - Safety, Operation & Basic Use (San Francisco)

Learn to CNC on the Datron Neo mill

Description

A deeper dive into machining fundamentals, focusing on the safe operation and unique capability of the Datron Neo.

This includes CAM post-processing, machine set-up, work holding strategies, intuitive navigation/interface, approaches to dialing in speeds and feeds to achieve quality surface finish and micro-machining. Users are taken through the entire work flow of machine set-up, creating a sample part and encouraged to think strategically into how the Datron's unique capability can be leveraged. Proficiency on prerequisite equipment is required and up to the discretion of the shop staff. 

CNC Skill Check (required prior to registration):

Email the CNC Shop supervisor Orion Beach orion.beach@autodesk.com, to schedule a CNC Skill Check prior to registering for this class, after taking CNC 3, Advanced CAM Programming. 

Materials

Allowed materials: Aluminum (2000 and 6000 series), Most plastics (Delrin, Polycarbonate, ABS)
Banned materials: Aluminum (1000 and 5000 series), wood
See shop staff for other materials.

Audience

This basic operation class is suitable for students with CNC and 3D modeling experience and can be taken only after completing the CNC Pathway and CNC Skill Check.
