Manual Lathe - Safety, Operation, & Basic Use

Learn to use the manual lathe for metal machining.

Description

Learn how to safely operate the manual metal lathe to make cylindrical or tapered objects such as bushings, sleeves, pins, shouldered rods, and handles, and can also be used to cut threads. You will learn how to safely select speeds, adjust the chuck and collet, and go over basic workholding techniques.  You will face, turn, drill, and then use a parting tool to remove your piece. After this class, you will be able to use this machine on your own in your fine metalworking projects. 

Materials: Cuts all machinable metals and plastics. 

This safety and basic use class is for shop users with some metal working experience.
