Welding – MIG - Safety, Operation, & Basic Use
Learn basic welding techniques with the MIG welder.
Description
Learn how to safely operate the arc welder also known as a MIG (metal inert gas) welder. MIG welding is known for its speed and versatility. The course will teach you welding concepts, how to setup the welder, use the gas tank and welding gun, and prepare materials. Welding requires the use of special safety equipment. Students will get hands-on-experience practicing weld beads and determining its quality. After this class, you will be able to start basic welding projects and are encouraged to practice your welds.
Materials: This class only covers working with mild and stainless steel although MIG welding can be used with a more broad range of metals.
Audience: This safety and basic use class is for shop users of all skill levels. Students should come to class wearing clothes and shoes made of natural fibers or leather.
**Please Note: For the safety of our users, we are currently limiting workshop access and prioritizing trainings for residents and employees with business-critical fabrication needs. We are also requiring all safety and machine specific trainings to be renewed in order to gain workshop access. You will not be able to register for this training unless you have been approved for workshop access and have renewed the required pre-requisites.
